What is the benefits of the SMT PCB assembly method?

Surface mounting is an effective technique for PCB assembly if the correct process is followed. Printed circuit boards are typically laminated and integrated with pads. These pads are plated with gold or silver tin-lead. The pad is coated with solder paste; this process is called screen printing.

Various conveyor systems can be used to transport electrical components that will be mounted on the surface of the PCB. The conveyor belt is used for automatic transfer in a paper/plastic belt wound on a reel. Sometimes plastic tubes can also be used for similar mechanisms. However, for large, well-designed circuits, it is recommended to use a static-free tray for delivery.

After placing the components on the board, the boards are moved to the reflow oven by means of a conveyor belt. The high temperature in the reflow oven causes the solder particles to melt and the electronic components adhere to the surface of the board. There are various other methods that can be used for weldings, such as using a fluorocarbon liquid or hot gas convection.
