Raspberry Pi or Arduino - which platform to choose?

A common problem for beginners is the choice of the hardware platform on which they will carry out their projects. On the wave of popularity of Raspberry Pi and  Arduino, more and more people are trying to do DIY.
At the very beginning, it is worth emphasizing that it is really hard to make a direct comparison because Raspberry Pi and Arduino are completely different platforms. The main and most important difference between them is that:
Raspberry Pi is a full-featured computer with an operating system.

Arduino is a development kit with a simple microcontroller.
Both platforms have been designed as learning devices for people who are starting their development with electronics and programming. Later it turned out that they work well in this, and their application intentions go far beyond educational topics.

The choice between Raspberry Pi and Arduino depends entirely on your needs for the project.
Arduino is best suited for tasks that require sensor data reading and real-time response. In addition, the Arduino has low power requirements and has very low maintenance requirements. It is ideal for projects that need to run continuously with little or no interaction.

On the other hand, Raspberry Pi should be considered when tasks may require personal computer work. Pi simplifies the project when it comes to managing a large number of operations. This can be connected to the Internet to read and write data. It can also include any type of jugging media or connect to an external display.
